Persian Vans & Harlequins
Ok, this page is dedicated to those of you who keep asking yourself...."What is a Persian Van"?"
As many of you have noticed lately, Cozy Kittens has been producing a decent amount
of kittens that are listed as "Persian Vans" and you find yourself wondering....
or e-mailing me and asking, "What on earth are they?"
Well, your typical common bi-color Persians are made up of two colors, such as:
Red & White
Blue & White
Cream & White
Black & White
Lilac & White
Chocolate & White
They are often known as the "tuxedo cat".
Their body is mainly colored and they usually have a white bib up their chest, four white
socks and usually some white on their face.
Here is a perfect example of a typical tuxedo bi-color Persian.
This one happens to be a black & white.

A Persian Van is almost the complete opposite of the traditional tuxedo bi-color Persian,
it's body should be almost completely white and have only colored markings on it's head,
tail and small splashes of color on it's paws.
(Up to two patches of color can also be on the "Vans" body and it still considered a Persian Van.
The Vans are incredibly rare in the Doll-Face Persian world and usually
no two are ever marked exactly the same.
It takes years of dedicated bi-color breeding to get the dominant color bred
off the Vans and the white to overrule the color.

Now, to help further educate you on the bi-colors, you might be wondering....
Why do you list some of the bi-colors and call them "Harlequins" or "High Whites"?
These are the descriptive terms often used to describe the ones in between the traditional
tuxedo bi-colors and the Persian Vans.
So, when you see us list a "Harlequin" or "High White Bi-Color", he or she does not fall into
neither the common tuxedo bi-color, nor the Persian Van category. Therefore, it is referred to as a
"High White Bi-Color Persian, or the fancier name..."Harlequin Persian".
Here are some examples of High White Bi-Color Persians, note that their colored tuxedo
markings are becoming overruled by the white.
Rare...but not as rare as the Persian Van.

Regardless of the markings on Persian Harlequins, Tuxedos or Vans, each is an
original creation from dedicated bi-colored breeders and Mother Nature herself!
Because of our many years of working with the bi-color Persian, we are now branching into even
more extraordinary rare colors, such as Golden & Silver Harlequins, Tuxedos and Vans.
